Corona situation worldwide: nearly 160 million infected and 3.4 million dead

Just under 3.464 million have died in connection with the virus, a Reuters count showed on Thursday based on data from state health departments and government officials.

In the U.S., the number of new Corona deaths dropped. According to a Reuters count, at least another 803 people died in connection with the virus within 24 hours last, down from 2,114 the day before. The number of new infections, meanwhile, rose to at least 39,061 from 32,570, bringing the total in the U.S. to at least 32.89 million people who have tested positive for the corona virus, with 585,459 having died in connection with it.

In Germany, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 17,419 new positive tests. That’s 4,534 fewer than a week ago Thursday, when 21,953 new infections were reported. The seven-day incidence dropped further to 103.6 – from 107.8 the previous day. The figure indicates how many people per 100,000 population contracted the coronavirus in the previous seven days. 278 more people died in connection with the virus. This brings the total number of reported deaths within 24 hours to 85,658. In total, more than 3,565,704 million corona tests have been positive in Germany so far.
